Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Entry level Maintenance Mechanic will perform general maintenance and repairs of all vehicles & equipment which includes large production machinery, and facilities.
- Will help perform maintenance and repairs such as oil changes, tires and brakes, replaces spark plugs and engages in other similar tasks for both vehicles and equipment.
- Perform basic mechanical tasks with electrical systems such as replacing batteries, starters, and lights.
- Updates maintenance and repair logs for vehicles.
- Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
- Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts.
- Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
- Inspects, troubleshoots, and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Cleans the shop and returns tools to proper location.
- Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
- Provides support and back up for other members of department as needed.
- Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance/shop workers.
- Basic Knowledge of vehicle repair.
- Excellent mechanical and general repair skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to use power and hand tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion.
- Knowledge of basic electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems.
- Must have a Class C Driver’s License
- Related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
- The employee may be exposed to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery factory floors.
- Must be able to visually inspect machines.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
